When my best friend informed me of a online shopping store for wedding accessories and supplies that could save us a little on the wedding expenses, I thought I’d give it a try. It’s true, reasonable prices and many accessories to choose from starting with wedding invitations right down to wedding favor gifts. I was surprised at all the great groomsmen gifts and bridemaids gifts they carry, as well as so many styles of wedding accessories for both ceremonies and receptions. Of course, my wedding décor and the supplies I would need, I intended to buy there.
December was the month we planned on for our wedding date and I was determined to have a winter wonderland wedding, and with all the accessories they have to offer, I knew I’d have everything I needed to make it work. The winter wonderland wedding bulletins were perfect for our invitations. When I went searching for my flower girls basket and the ring boys pillow I found a wedding set that not only had both those things but also, a guestbook, pen set and a lovely wedding garter too. I thought it would cost a lot more than it did for the matching five piece set. I know, after reading a few wedding articles, that many churches won’t allow the tossing of petals for the bride and grooms departure and many couples have chosen bubbles to be blown as they exit the ceremony. This online shopping site I’m on has little bottled bubbles for just that purpose, with little bubble cards for hang tags, which I placed an order for.
The lovely accessories I ordered were unbelievable. I bought all the gifts for the entire wedding party from there, including gifts for the bridesmaids, flower girl and ring boy. My fiance was happy that they had so many cool cheap groomsmen gifts ideas for him to choose from.
A mug was the choice for the groomsman favors that he choice and each mug said groomsman on it. We could cross off the list of things to buy as far as a cheap groomsman gift, my bridesmaids and the rest of the wedding party, so I could now choose thank you gifts for the guests. There were so many wonderful gift ideas for a winter wedding to give to our guests. As thank you gifts, I chose glass votive candles with a frosty winter theme, for all of our guests. Each candle had nice little silver snowflakes around it. Every candle was packaged in a decorative favor box with a silver hang tag on them.
The place card holders I chose were beautiful little snow ornaments that the guests can take home as a little momento. There was so much for a beautiful winter wonderland themed wedding, like our cake server set, our champagne flutes and even our funny wedding cake topper. I asked the baker to turn our top layer of the wedding cake into a ski slope, since the topper I picked was of a bride and groom on skis. The cake really turned out nice and I made sure there were lots of pictures of it for my gorgeous winter wonderland wedding album. Right after we took care of the cake cutting, and my brother in law toasted us, we stepped out on the dance floor for our first dance together as husband and wife. With all eyes on us as we danced, I felt as magical as a princess in a fairy tale.
Everyone was having a fantastic time and this reception was perfection from beginning to end. The wedding groomsmen gifts and the bridesmaids gifts were a big hit. Some of our friends and family expressed how much they really liked the thank you gifts they received and told us what a spectacular wedding and reception we had.

You get favors and gifts at wedding showers, bachelor parties, and bachelorette parties. You can get the future husband or wife a gift chosen from a lot of different options at these gatherings. My husband and I received some pretty awesome gift items. Some of the things we got were quite innovative, while most of the people at our engagement party just gave us cash, which was alright with us, every little bit helps when you are just started out. We were given movie and dinner certificates, a bottle of champagne we could use for our wedding toast, two tickets to a Reds game, that we really enjoyed, and little things like that. A lot of our loved ones gave us presents, even though it was not required for engagement parties.
The guys at the bachelor party got my fiance a shirt that said ‘I survived my bachelor party, but I don’t remember how,’ along with some other crazy shirts and things. A mug with groom on it was another groom gift he got, along with a sun visor and set of wine bottles that were made for a man about to get married. He came home from the party with an inflatable doll and a ball and chain that he said they made him wear the whole time the party was going on. He got other mock bride gifts besides, that gave them all some laughs. The bride gifts I received at my bachelorette party were sweet, although some were meant as gag gifts too. I received a present with a big ribbon on top that turned out to be an elegant white evening bag made of satin with a crystal clasp on it. They put a pin and a shirt inside the bag that I had to wear for our night on the town, and there were some make-up and manicure accessories inside as well. I loved this pillow they gave me which had the word ‘tonight’ embroidered on a side, and then you turned it over and it read ‘not tonight’. It was definitely an unusual and funny throw pillow.
At our wedding reception there were no gag gifts, just very nice bride and groom wedding gifts from all of our friends and family. We got about three toasters, four blenders and lots of waffle irons, but that is to be expected when you have so many people attending your wedding. We did get some of the things I had written on to our bridal registry, like the china I wanted and the food processor. My mother- and father-in-law gave us a bar side set and a pool table, and my husband thought it was absolutely wonderful, and has already planned a get together with the guys. The plane tickets to get to the Greek Isles for our honeymoon came from my folks. We received a lot of wonderful gifts on our wedding day from our loving families and fantastic friends.
Having all our friends and family around us on this more than special day meant more to us than anything. We were able to spend our engagement party, wedding, and reception with them, and we are so glad about that. It’s good to know you have so many people that care this much about you and are there for you during the good times and the bad. It also helps to have friends that care enough to throw you a wild night with a bachelor party or a mind trippin girls night out bash. With friends like that around, your life will be anything but boring. Thank you notes could never begin to express how much we appreciate their love and support.

I associated babies with childhood, and I associate childhood with Ernie singing ‘Rubber Duckie You’re the One’ on Sesame Street. It seemed like a longshot, but I checked to see if there were any duck wedding favors available anyway, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot simpler to put together such a baby shower than I anticipated it would be, especially with all of the outstanding input I gleaned from suring the Internet. There are a lot of adorable little duck favors and decorations to be found on the internet for baby showers and even toddler birthday parties.
I put tables that could seat four apiece in my basement rec room since that was plenty big enough for this size crowd. I put baby shower gifts in one corner, and then at the opposite end of the den was a table with appetizers, drinks, deserts, and a layered cake in the form of a rubber ducky and the words baby girl written on it. There were posters of Donald and Daisy Duck, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and the rest of the Disney cast all over the place, and the Daisy Duck one was huge.
I got pink picture frames with tiny ducks on the edges to use a place card holders for each person’s spot at a table. The punch bowl had ducks painted all over it, as did the plates, napkins, glasses, and favor candles that each guest received as a gift. I went to a department store and purchased a little duck shaped baby bathtub and placed a glass punch bowl inside. It was really kind of cute. I also bought duck molds and filled them with yellow colored water for duck shaped ice cubes. I took my duck idea to great extremes.
On the world wide web, I found a bunch of great ideas, and that’s pretty much where I found everything I needed, but I did get a few recommendations from some of the people at my school. On the Internet is where I found duck shower favors, such as the precious duck favor bookmarkers I found, and the duck candles, too. The people at the shower thought they were to die for, and they got handed out to the winners of the games we did at the shower as well.
I put some rubber duckies in a large, square-shaped, makeshift tub that I filled with water before anyone got to the shower yet. Underneath every rubber duck, I wrote a number, and the each guest plucked one out of the water as they arrived. A couple of hours into the shower, I picked a number out of a jar, and the person with that numbered duck received an award. We also did the old game where you try to guess which person belongs to which baby picture. The guests were told in advance to take a baby picture of theirs to the shower with them, and then we put them all on a board and put the board in the front of the room. Each guest got a chance to check out the board and see how many pictures they were able to match up with the faces of the other guests. The winner was the person who guessed right on the most of them, and they were awarded a shower favor.
We had a lot of fun, great laughs and the mother to be got some really neat gifts for her little girl. I’m so glad I found this idea for the baby shower online. At first I wasn’t too sure about it, but it turned out to be a really great baby shower. Going with the whole duck genre worked out swimmingly.
